Rachel
Rachel is a (pretty much) lifelong resident of the great state of Texas. She was raised in Van….a town of not-too-many that has some nice schools. Now, Rachel is a professor at Texas A&M University in Bryan-College Station, TX. She loves Jesus, Jeff, and kayaking…pretty much in that order. Rachel’s life is lived to glorify God through obedience to His command to share the Gospel with the whole world. She has been called by God to go to the nations in full-time missionary service. She is excited to be a wife and to learn to love an unlovable man. God bless you, Rachel…..
Jeff
Jeff was born in Ohio, raised in Tennessee, and has bounced around like a super-ball for the last fifteen to twenty years. Currently, he is a student in The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’s doctoral program. He is studying Christian Missions in the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and Missions. He loves Jesus, Rachel, and country music….definitely in that order. God has called Jeff to serve Him in full-time foreign missions. Jeff’s most recent act of obedience to God is asking Rachel to marry him. His next act of obedience is to love Rachel as Jesus loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25). He is excited to be a husband and best friend to Rachel.
Our Future
God has called Rachel to full-time missions. God has called me to full-time missions. Now, God has placed us together. Our plans (Lord willing) are centered around going overseas and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the nations in some capacity. Our immediate future will be based in College Station, TX. Rachel will continue to teach at Texas A&M. I will work and continue PhD studies at SBTS. We will both work to build a life together as husband, wife, and best friends. After I complete my degree, we will seek appointment as cross-cultural (inter-cultural) missionaries.
Here is the reason for this blog: we want to give you an opportunity to partner with us as we plan to serve overseas. We are getting married in August. Traditionally, family and friends give wedding gifts to the bride and groom. We are open to that. We will need some things as we start life together. But, we do not want to accumulate a lot of stuff here in the States. We want to honor God with our finances and our possessions.
So, some of you might want to give to overseas mission service. If so, we want to give you a way to contribute to our future overseas work. So, we will have a way for you to Donate to our future mission service. Or, if you are just here to hear our story and follow the wedding plans, that is great, as well. Blessings.
